The Olympics Want to Add Breakdancing to the 2024 Games

Bboys and girls take note!

The International Olympic Committee has recommended breakdancing as a new sport for the 2024 Olympic Games. Apparently it’s the IOC’s attempt to make the Olympics more “urban”. That’s according to the IOC president Thomas Bach.

Skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing were also recommended and approved by the IOC to join the roster for the 2020 Games in Tokyo. The board met Tuesday and decided to add breakdancing as a prospective sport for 2024 in an attempt to urbanize the games. Bach told the Washington Post:

“They contribute to make the program of the Games more gender-balanced, more youthful and more urban,” IOC President Thomas Bach said at a news conference Tuesday. “These four sports also offer the opportunity to connect with the young generation there.”

Bach said officials will monitor the three new Paris sports through the end of 2020
