It’s so Hot in New York That…

...horse poop is spontaneously combusting

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation says they received multiple complaints on July 5th about the smell and smoke from a burning pile of horse manure at a stable in Syracuse.

The owners of the stable had been keeping the poop in large piles that spontaneously combust in the hot and dry conditions, and the shifting winds carried the smell into the neighbours’ windows.

It took three local fire departments two hours to douse the burning manure.
