Snowmobiler Loses Machine, Licence in RIDE Check

Stopped in check at Gilford

Among those stopped in RIDE checks last night in Gilford was a snowmobiler on Shore Acres Drive. South Simcoe Police say the driver was travelling toward them at a high rate of speed. He was stopped and given a roadside test which indicated he was impaired. He was also not wearing a helmet. He’s been charged under the Criminal Code with Over 80 mgs, and not wearing a helmet under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act. His snowmobile has been impounded for seven days; his licence suspended for 90 days.

In Bradford, South Simcoe officers stopped 550 cars and tested 32 drivers who had been drinking. Two were given a 3-day licence suspension for being in the WARN range. These drivers also had their cars impounded.
