Following a house fire over the weekend in Wasaga Beach, a complete fire ban has been put in place for the town. No open air burning will be permitted to due to the tinder dry conditions. Fire Fighters say the dry conditions fanned the flames of the weekend blaze, causing it to consume the home and destroy two cars.
Barrie is sitting under high rating. Check with local municipalities before lighting any fires. Fire Fighters are reminding residents to be careful with all flammable materials. Especially cigarette butts. They say make sure you are snuffing them out in sand not in anything that could ignite, like a flower pot. Because if the plant is dry it is likely to go up in flames.
