Defense Staff Head “Extremely Disappointed” In Sexual Assault Survey Results

Survey Shows Nearly A Thousand Personnel Have Reported Assault

Nearly a thousand military personnel have reported they’d been sexually assaulted in the last year according to Statistics Canada. Chief of Defense Staff General Jonathan Vance says he’s extremely disappointed in the results of the survey, moreso as the allegations came after he issued orders to eliminate misconduct in the military through a mission called Operation Honour. The survey indicates more than a quarter of all women in the military, reported sexual assault at least once in their military career, four times more likely than men to report being assaulted too. The survey, and Operation Honour, come following a scathing report last year that indicated an “endemic” culture of sexual harassment in the military.
