The Panama Papers Causing Global Headaches For Alleged Tax Evaders

Millions Of Leaked Documents Implicate Hundreds in Global Scandal

Plenty of fallout over this one: The so called Panama Papers, a collection of terabytes of data from a Panama based law firm, that details global corruption involving heads of state, athletes, billionaires, and drug lords. Over 11 million confidential documents were leaked by hackers, containing records of offshore tax havens. Hundreds of Canadians were named, mostly scam artists and investment bankers, no high profile politicians or anything. Not like Iceland, where their parliament is primed to hold a no confidence vote in its Prime Minister, Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson, over this leak. Several Ukrainian political parties are calling for an impeachment investigation into President Petro Poroshenko over allegations he used an offshore account to avoid paying taxes. The papers emerged in an investigation published on Sunday by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and more than 100 other global news organizations.
