‘It’ Producers To Remake 80’s Slasher Film ‘Child’s Play’

"Hi, I'm Chucky"

Director and screenwriter Don Mancini recently announced that his iconic 80s thriller Child’s Playis getting a reboot as a TV series. The series is said to be a continuation of the storyline in the franchise’s previous seven films. However, MGM has just announced that they are in the midst of also working on a re-creation.

MGM’s remake will be a feature film directed by Lars Klevberg and produced by It‘s David Klatzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith.

Through info via inside sources, Collider reported that the feature film project is to be a contemporary production of the original plot – the new version of Chucky is to be a “technologically-advanced doll that enters their world” and may not even be named Chucky. Sound’s a little far from the original, where the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray enters the red-haired doll.

Altogether, Chucky doll fans will have a choice – Mancini’s classic narrative or Klevberg’s contemporary plot. It has been reported that MGM is fast tracking, potentially as a means to release before Mancini’s television series does.
