Kaleo Making Waves

Iceland band heating up in North America

The band Kaleo, originally from Iceland and now living in the southern U.S. has been doing some big things in the music industry since the band formed in 2012.

Having grown up on the island featuring volcanoes and midnight golf, Kaleo’s lead singer and power vocalist Jökull Júlíusson  (JJ Julius Son) had always dreamed of the American South.  The band, whose members are in their mid-20’s now released their debut album in Iceland in 2013.

Just a little over a year ago, Kaleo moved to Austin Texas, and since then they have been popping on on North American television and radio. “No Good” was used on the HBO series “Vinyl,” produced by Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese, and was featured in the soundtrack.  The single “Way Down We Go” has broken into the top 10 on the Adult Alternative charts and has been also been used in soundtracks, promotions and trailers for shows like “Orange is the New Black” and “Empire.”  It was also featured on the show Blindspot, the FIFA ’16 sountrack.

Kaleo has been doing the talk show circuit recently guesting on Jimmy Kimmel live and are also touring the southern United States.
