Another Balanced Budget For RVH

RVH has a balanced budget for a seventh year in a row. It had to find $8-million in cost savings to do it, and while patient services and bed capacities have been maintained, it comes with some job losses. Twenty-four vacant and 32 full-time positions will be eliminated – some through retirement and regular turnover. “By leaving no stone unturned in non-clinical efficiencies, RVH is able to minimize the impact on patients, protect beds and services, while delivering quality, patient-centred care,” says Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO. “RVH is in a privileged position in the province. We’ve grown significantly over the past few years and we will add new services in the next year. However, continuing to absorb rising costs and patient volumes is extremely challenging.”
