A Sad Day For Rock N Roll: Remembering Ozzy Osbourne

The world was shaken from the news about Ozzy Osbourne passing away.
He put himself out there earlier this month for his farewell show and put on a hell of a performance. It was 10 hours with a plethora of bands and solo artists all paying tribute to Ozzy and Black Sabbath. How lucky we are as fans to have the perfect moment to send him off.
Yesterday, his family posted the following message on Ozzy's X account.
It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.

We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.

The out pouring following this announcement has been massive. The kind words and funny stories that people have shared are only rivaled by his live performances and his funny antics in interviews. A whole new generation got to fall in love with him on TV with The Osbourne's. It didn't matter what age you were introduced to him, you instantly became a fan.
Back in his hometown of Birmingham, fans gathered at the Black Sabbath mural to pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne in the most fitting way — blasting his music loud and proud. A truck-mounted screen lit up the street with footage from his career, turning the tribute into a kind of street-side concert and collective farewell.
Ozzy Osbourne's music has been heard thundering out across Birmingham as fans pulled up to the Black Sabbath mural with a truck-mounted video screen and speakers.

This moment is hitting especially hard: a clip from Ozzy’s last-ever live performance of “Mama, I’m Coming Home.” The lyrics, the voice, the emotion — it now feels like a personal goodbye to fans everywhere. If you haven’t seen it yet, grab some tissues.

Of course, the tributes aren’t all serious — because Ozzy was as funny as he was fierce. This viral moment brings back a classic clip that fans have been resharing with love. Only Ozzy could steal a beer and have the internet mourn him with this much affection.

Fellow rock legends are also paying tribute to Ozzy Osbourne.
Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant kept it simple and sincere — a nod from one icon to another. Few artists have truly changed the planet of rock like Ozzy did.
Farewell Ozzy … what a journey … sail on up there .. finally at peace .. you truly changed the planet of rock!

Even Nirvana’s official account shared their appreciation, calling Black Sabbath “the template” for heavy rock. That’s not hyperbole — countless bands across genres trace their roots back to Ozzy and Sabbath.
Thank you Ozzy Osbourne for the inspiration. @BlackSabbath is the template for heavy Rock. #Ozzy

And then there’s this gem: a throwback to Ozzy's hilariously off-key but totally iconic rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” It’s the kind of thing only Ozzy could get away with — completely wrong, yet somehow perfect.
There was no one like Ozzy Osborne. As in, no one would ever mistake him for anyone else. In August 2003, he sang “Take Me Out To The Ballgame,” got fewer than 10% of the song right, and it was perfect. pic.twitter.com/kVLSBucO1X

And sometimes, all you need are a few words. This post says what millions are feeling right now: Rest in peace, legend.

Whether it’s through a thunderous Sabbath riff, a reality TV moment, or a wild story passed around between fans, his legacy is everywhere.
