Every year on March 8th, we celebrate International Women's Day.

This is a day to celebrate the many achievements of women from all over the world, whether they be social, economical, cultural, or political.

Join Rock 95 on March 8th in honouring all the incredible women that raised us, taught us, helped shape us, fought for us, inspired us, and showed us the importance of gender equality, and the remaining work that still needs to be done.

2026 International Women's Day Theme

The 2026 theme for International Women's Day is Give to Gain. Built around the idea that “When we give, we gain,” the campaign highlights the power of generosity in advancing gender equality.

It encourages individuals, organizations, and communities to contribute in meaningful ways, whether through mentorship, advocacy, education, funding, visibility, or simply speaking up against bias and discrimination.

Give to Gain reminds us that progress is not limited. When we invest in women and girls, opportunities expand for everyone. Supporting women’s advancement strengthens communities, workplaces, and economies.

What Can We Give?

Giving doesn't just mean financial donations. It can take many forms, including:

• Mentorship and training
• Education and skill-building
• Advocacy and allyship
• Sharing knowledge and expertise
• Offering visibility and recognition

Annual International Women's Day Empowerment Luncheon

The Women & Children's Shelter of Barrie is hosting an Empowerment Luncheon on March 8th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The Luncheon is an exciting celebration bringing the community together to honor and support women.

This year’s event promises a unique twist, featuring a special performance by the Hospice Hummingbirds, presenting Hospice Simcoe Advance Care Planning: The Musical. Attendees can expect an inspiring and memorable experience that combines community spirit, entertainment, and meaningful support for women and children.
