School Board Approves Site Plan Suggestion And Teachers Agreement

New Site Plan Aims To Appease Council

No need to go back to the drawing board on a south end school just yet. Last night the Simcoe County District School Board voted to approve the idea of submitting a revised site plan to the City of Barrie in lieu of council-suggested arbitration. The board will submit a plan that has a school on the south side of the property at Mapleview and Prince William, along with a multi-use facility on the north. The city months ago shot down the original idea of having a school on the south of the property, saying the city’s South End Master Plan calls for the building to be on the north side of the property.¬†Also at last night’s school board meeting, the board ratified the agreement reached with the local OSSTF bargaining unit. The Secondary School Teachers have yet to vote on the matter.
