High Miler Clocked Through Cookstown

Police Say Driver Had Reason To Flee

A getaway in Cookstown was interrupted by a bush. Nottawasaga OPP say they spied a vehicle hitting high speeds in the Highway 89 area, west of Cookstown. Police clocked the vehicle at 129km/h in an 80 zone as it rushed towards Cookstown. Police gave chase and say they saw the vehicle pass a few cars and run a red light in the village, before losing control and ending up on the side lawn of a William St. home, coming to rest on a bush. The 36-year-old Ajax man behind the wheel was arrested and charged with Dangerous Driving, Flight From Police, Possession of Pot and Stolen Credit Cards. He was due in Barrie court this morning.
