Water Soldier Open House

Did you know a new invasive aquatic plant, water soldier, was found in Lake Simcoe for the first time in 2024? This fast-spreading plant can threaten fish habitats, native plants, has serrated leaf edges, and will threaten the overall health of our lake.

Join the Water Soldier Working Group on Monday, October 20 between 5:00-7:30 PM at the Georgina Ice Palace to learn about the results of this season's monitoring efforts in Cook's Bay and other locations around Lake Simcoe. Come speak with members of the Water Soldier Working Group to better understand what this could mean for you and your use of Lake Simcoe. You’ll also discover ways that you, as a member of the public, can help protect Lake Simcoe from this invasive species.

This is a free public event, and it’s a great opportunity to get involved in protecting the lake we all love.
