Gone Too Soon: 5 Music Legends We Wish Were Still Alive

On Thursday, the music world was shaken by the death of Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland. While the cause of death is still under investigation, rumours are swirling that cardiac arrest ultimately took his life, resulting from years of drug and alcohol abuse.

With so many of music’s most iconic artists leaving us too soon, it got us thinking… Which Rock ‘n’ Roll legends do we most wish were still with us today?

Kurt Cobain (February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994)

Not too many stars die at their peak… We can only imagine what else he would have brought to the table.

Jimi Hendrix (November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970)

I have my guesses as to what Elvis or Jim Morrison would be doing if they were alive today… Jimi make me wonder. Somehow I see him toned down, playing great blues in smaller venues.

Stevie Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 – August 27, 1990) 

Despite his career lasting just seven years, he is still considered one of the most influential electric guitarists, and one of the most important figures in the revival of blues in the 80s. He’s one of those musicians I could watch play all day long…

George Harrison (February 25 1943 – November 29, 2001)

Something always drew me into the Beatles most quiet band member… He had an incredible voice. His songs for the group include Taxman, Within You Without You, While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Something, the second-most covered Beatles song.

John Henry Bonham (May 31, 1948 – September 25, 1980)

John was truly a monster drummer that I would have loved to see live. I honestly believe deep down that a full Zeppelin reunion tour would have happened by now if he were alive today.
