Rock 95's Home Grown Battle of the Bands

Craig Ross and Rachel Detta will be live on site to host this year’s Rock 95 Home Grown Battle of the Bands — and trust us, it's going to be an epic showdown.
Final 5 Bands
Over 100 local acts entered this year, and after some tough decisions, the list has been narrowed down to the final five:
1. Dorene
A young independent rock duo from a small town in Ontario, Canada
2. Cold Weather Captains
A Toronto-based rock band blending blues, funk, psychedelic rock, and hip-hop into an electrifying, groove-driven sound. With high-energy performances and a string of acclaimed releases, they’ve made waves at major festivals and earned recognition from outlets like Exclaim! and Canadian Beats.
3. Feura
A Toronto alt-rock artist delivering raw, unfiltered energy through a bold fusion of grunge, punk, and hard-hitting rock. Known for her unapologetic lyrics and relentless sound, she’s redefining the underground scene with music that demands to be heard.
4. The Howlin’ Gales
A Toronto-based country rock band blending heartfelt storytelling with infectious hooks for a sound that’s uniquely theirs. Formed in 2022, they’re quickly making waves with high-energy performances and undeniable charm.
5. Live Animals
Live Animals are a Southern Ontario grunge-rock force, blending heavy riffs, haunting melodies, and raw energy into an unapologetically modern take on ‘90s rebellion.
These incredible bands will hit the stage starting at 2:00 PM, battling it out for the title of Home Grown Champion.
The winning band scores some huge prizes, including:
- Radio play on Rock 95
- A prime spot at Gussapolooza 2026
- An opening set at a Rock 95–presented concert
- A music industry consultation with Known Accomplice Records (the team behind The Trews and Sam Roberts Band)
Want in on a little secret?
The first 95 people through the gates who say the password “Home Grown” will get free general admission for Friday (12 PM–12 AM). This doesn’t include camping or weekend passes, so plan accordingly — and yes, you’ve got to be quick because spots will go fast!
