What happens now?

Many people woke this morning wondering how the world as they know it is about to change.  Americans have sent Donald Trump to the White House to become the 45th President of the United States.

Even yesterday, not many people thought a Trump presidency could even be a possibility, but this morning here we are and wondering what it all means.

Are Mexicans quickly taking up a collection to help to fund the wall they’re now going to have to pay for?  Are the various celebrities who said they would leave the U.S. if Trump were to become President packing up their stuff and looking for a new country to call home this morning?

What will happen with Canada’s trade with the U.S.?  Will he really tear up the NAFTA agreement?  Will various countries now have to pay the U.S. to protect them around the world?  How will the new U.S. foreign policy and diplomatic relations change around the world?  How will he handle the Middle East, North Korea, Syria and Iraq?

There are a lot of questions that need to be answered, and in the short term how will world economic markets respond to the news in the coming days?

Fasten your seatbelts.  We’re in for a bumpy ride.
