Work To Begin Soon On Costco In Orillia

Permits have been issued; site being secured

The City of Orillia has granted permission for contractors to use the curb lane and sidewalk on University Avenue during construction of the new Costco Store. It’s not expected to adversely affect the flow of traffic since University is a five-lane roadway. Pedestrians are encouraged to use the sidewalk on the west side of University Avenue for the duration of the construction project. The City is also accommodating parking on Swinimer Drive in the Horne Business Park for people working on the Costco site. Currently this road is barricaded from access, but has been available previously at no charge for use as additional parking during special events at Rotary Place and Lakehead University. When completed, Costco expects to employ approximately 250 full and part-time workers.
