What if you had to prove you can text and drive before you got your licence?

Belgian driving school put it to the test

Texting and driving can be deadly, there’s no arguing the point. Police, firefighters and paramedics see the fallout first hand. We go out of our way to report on the dangers of texting and driving and lay out the statistics – deadly statistics. The message is to now text and drive, but what if you had to prove you could do it safely to pass your driving test. Responsible Young Drivers in Belgium developed a unique test that exposes the hazardous and unsafe methods of texting while driving. When applicants arrived at the Brussels Driving Center for their driving test, they were told they had to pass a new test called the “mobile phone test” in order to get their driver’s license.
