Republic Live is bringing the first of two major music festival’s to Burl’s Creek Event Park this weekend. Local’s in the Oro-Medonte area where the festival is being staged are concerned about traffic woes and noise coming from the festival area.Organizers have assured local residents they have a plan to flow the expected 40,000 festival goers into and out of the park over the weekend without creating huge traffic tie-ups. Those of us who can remember the former Molson Park festival site remember long traffic line-ups along northbound Highway 400 on Friday night’s of concerts mixed in with the cottage bound traffic.

The difference is, these promoter’s are in the concert promotion business and are sensitive to the local issues that come with staging a huge festival and also have lots of experience to draw on how to manage huge crowds. I’m expecting they will do a top notch job of funneling traffic this weekend, and managing the crowds that are expected to pour into our regional area.

This will be the first test of how the relationship between festival promoters and local residents will develop for future shows. Hopefully, things will go very well this weekend, and if not, we’ll be there with your latest cottage bound traffic news to help you get around any issues that might develop.
