UPDATE: Water Shuttled In From Afar To Fight “Suspicious” Creemore Fire

Special Trucks Used To Shuttle Water From Two Kilometres Away

March 7th – The Fire Marshal’s Office has deemed this fire suspicious. Huronia West OPP have taken over the investigation and have asked anyone with information to contact them.

March 4th – A house fire is never convenient, even less so when it’s far from a hydrant. That was the case this morning, along County Road 9 near Riverside Dr. in Creemore. Fire crews got the call to a home there, by a passerby who spotted flames coming from the structure. They showed up around 4:30 to find the house fully engulfed, and no fire hydrants to be found for 2km. That didn’t seem to phase Clearview Fire Chief Colin Shewell. He says his crews brought in special equipment to tap fire hydrants and shuttle water to the scene, saying water supply was never in question despite low temperatures. The fire is out, but caused an estimated $500,000 in damage to the home. Neighbours say no one was home at the time of the blaze, while fire crews have yet to get inside as they wait for investigators from the Fire Marshall’s Office.
