Veteran Newscaster Morley Safer Dies

Toronto-Born Journalist Spent Over Half A Century Telling Stories

Morley Safer has died, mere days after retiring from his long-standing post at 60 Minutes. The Toronto-born journalist filed a record 919 reports for the long-running news program, and marked his retirement just days ago, following 46 seasons with the show. Safer got his start as a writer for a Woodstock newspaper, before moving to CBC then CBS in the 50’s and 60’s. Morley Safer was 84 years old.
