Tragically Hip’s ‘Man Machine Poem’ tour to be turned into Documentary

The Tragically Hip’s recent smash cross-country tour is getting the documentary treatment, according to the Canadian Press.

Bell Media will roll out the documentary on several of its channels in 2017.

Banger Films and directors Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier are at the helm of the project. The filmmakers are working with “hundreds of hours of footage,” from the tour.

Roughly 1/3 of Canada’s population tuned into CBC’s national broadcast of the band’s final show from the tour in August via television, web streaming, and radio. The band launched the tour after frontman Gord Downie announced he has terminal brain cancer
