Today Is International Safer Internet Day

T.H.I.N.K. Before You Send

Police are hoping you will take a moment and T.H.I.N.K. before you send your next text, tweet or instagram picture.
The OPP are supporting International Safer Internet Day and are encouraging everyone, especially young people to take the time to make sure the stuff they are sending out for all to see is true, is legal, and make sure it isn’t hurtful.
OPP Inspector Robyn MacEachern says on-line bullying is a new norm, and sexting is something that really needs a  lot of thought put into it before it’s done.
She says on line world is the new world and there is no privacy once you hit send.
The OPP are encouraging everyone to apply the T.H.I.N.K. test before posting anything.

T – is it True?
H – is it Hurtful?
I – is it Illegal?
N – is it Necessary?
K – is it Kind?

The OPP will be supporting cyber safety awareness by sharing messages and resources and encouraging followers to be part of the conversation on Twitter by using the hashtags #SID2016, #Up2Us and #OPPtips.
