The Strokes may be following up their Future Present Past EP with a full new record next year, according to guitarist Nick Valensi.

Talking to NME, Valensi revealed that “The Strokes are alive and well and living in New York City.” Though currently embarked on a tour with his newly debuted band CRX, he said the Strokes “are working on music and we want to hopefully put music out next year.”

He was however, reluctant to give any more information away: “If I start saying a lot now, people get too excited. Then there’s all this hype you’ve got to compete with, and that’s not fun.”

Rather than provide a timeline of when to expect the first full record since 2013’s Comedown Machine, Valensi says “if anything, I’d rather just pull a Beyonce at some point next year and just drop shit.”
