SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, around 3:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a call about a car travelling North on Yonge Street, swerving and without a tire.  The witness reports seeing sparks coming from the vehicle. Police located and stopped the vehicle on the 7th Line of Innisfil.  While speaking to the driver, the officer noticed he was unsteady on his feet and a strong odour of alcohol was detected. The driver was arrested and taken to the station for further testing.  A 61 year old man from Newmarket was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs.  He will be appearing in court to answer to these charges in Mid December. The man’s car was impounded and he was given an immediate 90 day licence suspension.

On Wednesday, November 29, 2017, around 1:00 a.m., an officer general patrol, noticed an unoccupied car in an arena lot in Bradford. The officer was familiar with this vehicle from previous incidents.   Soon after, the officer observed a male enter the vehicle and drive from the lot.  After further investigation, the officer confirmed the registered owner was a suspended driver.  Police stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as the owner. An 18 year old from Bradford was charged with Drive Under Suspension.

SOUTHERN GEORGIAN BAY OPP

On Wednesday November 29, 2017 at approximately 5:05 p.m., an officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on County Rd. 6 in Tiny Township, Ontario for a  number of Highway Traffic Act violations. As a result of further investigation, the driver, a 44-year-old Tiny Township man is further charged with Adult Driving While Ability Impaired – Motor Vehicle, Adult Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 14, 2017 in Midland, Ontario and received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and had his vehicle towed and impounded.
