Break and Enter suspect sought in Orillia

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

The Orillia Detachment is investigating a break and enter to an Atherley Road business in the City of Orillia. On August 5, 2018 at approximately 1:00 a.m. an unknown person entered the business and took a quantity of cash. The suspect was caught on camera however the police need the assistance of the public in identifying the perpetrator. The camera shows a person wearing a distinctive looking light pair of pants with a stripe down the leg and a distinctive pair of shoes. Police feel that someone might know who this person is. If anyone has information regarding this incident or knows who may have committed this crime they are encouraged to contact the Orillia OPP or Crimestoppers.


The Orillia Detachment is investigating a hit and run an Atherley Road business in the City of Orillia. On July 13, 2018 at approximately 6:45 p.m. a vehicle entered the parking lot and stuck another vehicle. The driver of the 2017 black GMC Sierra with decals on the back was seen on camera leaving the scene. Police were able to get a licence plate number and know who the owner of the vehicle is. Police have attempted to get in contact with the owner however he is avoiding police. The suspect is believed to be residing in the Beaverton or Brechin area. SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

South Simcoe Police Service is releasing a photograph of a matchbook found at a fire scene in the hope of tracing its origin. The pack of matches was found at the scene of a house fire on Moore Street in Bradford West Gwillimbury that broke out in the early hours of Sunday, July 1. Investigators are asking any stores or individuals that have or use this particular brand of matchbook to contact police. Police are treating the fire as criminally suspicious. Investigators are awaiting reports from the Centre of Forensic Sciences and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal. Investigation has revealed the actual time of the blaze was between 3:00a.m. and 4:00 a.m. on July 1, 2018. No one was injured and the damage estimate is still unknown.
