Tense Situation Diffused By Barrie Police Officer

Call To Check On Woman's Well Being Escalated

Some quick thinking diffused what could have been a deadly situation. Around 7:00 last night, Barrie Police received a call to check on the well being of a 20-year-old woman who had been drinking and was possibly suicidal. After tracking her down, police went to a Cundles Road home to meet her. When the woman came out of the house, police say she was hiding her hands in her pockets. When police asked her to show them her hands, that’s when officers say she pulled a 6″ pocket knife and pointed it at police. They say she refused to back down and kept coming at them. That’s when the officer kicked her legs out from under her and safely take her into custody. She’s been charged accordingly.
