Teen Arrested After Allegedly Dashing Across Highway 400 After Theft

An alleged thief hit the road… literally. Barrie Police telling us a 17-year-old boy ran from the Bayfield Mall just after 2:00 yesterday, after being accused of stealing a store employee’s cell phone. They say the boy returned to the mall not long after, not realizing the cops were already there. They say the teen ran off again, through a wooded area and right onto the 400. Police say the alleged dummy ran across all six lanes, before being scooped up by waiting officers on the other side. He was handed over to his parents with a future court date and a ticket for being on the highway.
