St. Peter’s Kicks Into Football Season With Striking Win

by Mykenzie Barrera - St. Peter's Catholic HS

On September 23rd, St. Peter’s Catholic Secondary School in Barrie took on the team from St. Theresa Catholic Secondary School in Midland, in their first football game of the season. All the players were nervous to see how the first game would turn out, but with home field advantage they knew it was game on.

Matteo, a Grade 9 student at St. Peter’s, joined the team in September. This was his first game playing on the varsity football team. “It feels like a rush of adrenaline on the field,” he expressed.

St. Theresa’s boys played a hard game and they showed true bravery against St. Peter’s, however, by the end of the game it was a close loss for St. Theresa with a score of 20-19.

“They hit hard, but in the end we pushed through” said Diego.

The coach was happy about the win, and when I asked him to express his thoughts he replied, “it feels fantastic to win the game, I feel this will be a big moral booster for the team.”

Cayden as well has the same hopes. “I hope this means great things for our team.”

The football team has been working very hard and this first win was a big one.

Congratulations team! Keep working hard!
