Two people are facing 30 charges after an elderly Barrie resident was victim of fraud. The OPP were contacted in September of last year as a senior citizen reported was defrauded over the course of seven months. Investigators say a family member abused their Power of Attorney, scamming an 86-year-old Barrie resident out of several thousand dollars. A 45-year-old woman and 50-year-old man, both from Springwater, will answer to their 30 Fraud-related charges in Bradford court next month. Meanwhile, South Simcoe Police are reaching out to elderly residents in the area, with a Senior’s Police Academy program. More information on that can be found in our regular Walking The Beat Feature.
