Springwater Fire Gets New Set Of Wheels, Hoses

Pumper can operate from hydrants or ponds

Springwater Fire & Emergency Services has taken delivery of a new 2016 pumper/rescue fire truck. The new truck can pump 1,050 imperial gallons of water per minute and can be set-up to operate efficiently from both pressurized (fire hydrants) or non-pressurized (ponds) water sources. As a result, the truck will be effective in both urban and rural areas throughout the Township of Springwater – deemed essential to providing fire protection services to the current and future population in Springwater. It also carries an on-board foam system, state-of-the-art extrication equipment, thermal imaging camera, self-contained breathing apparatus and a light tower for increased on-scene safety. “This new apparatus will assist us in maintaining an excellent level of service to our growing community,” says Ian Gavet, Director of Fire & Emergency Services. “On behalf of a grateful department, I thank the Mayor and Council for supporting this important initiative.” The new truck will be assigned to Station 2 in Midhurst. The existing pumper at Station 2 will be re-assigned to Station 4 in Hillsdale. The older pumper at Station 4 will then be reassigned to Station 2, as a backup.
