South Simcoe RIDE Stats Better Than Last Year

Police Still Concerned With Number Of DUI Charges Laid

South Simcoe Police have some reassuring RIDE stats, but they’re still not happy. The service has wrapped up their Festive RIDE program for yet another year, saying they stopped a total of 8271 vehicles from November 25th to January 2nd. Of those, 340 roadside sobriety tests were performed. 12 drivers face criminal drunk driving charges, 17 drug charges laid, while 32 drivers had their licences suspended for 3 days, after having close to the legal limit of booze in their system.  While South Simcoe Police stopped over two thousand fewer vehicles last year, and 13 drivers charged with DUIs, officers say they’re still disappointed with anyone who chooses to drink and drive.
