Social Housing Expansion Grand Opening

Expansion Bringing 54 New Seniors' Affordable Housing To Barrie

They cut the ribbon on a social housing expansion today. The County of Simcoe is behind this one; an addition to a project at 33 Brooks Street in Barrie will mean for an additional 54 one-bedroom affordable housing units designed for seniors. This is all part of the county’s 10-year Affordable Housing Strategy calling for 2,685 new social housing units in the county by 2024. The Brooks Street project cost $11.6 million, and came complete with energy efficient additions like upgraded windows, lighting, and heating systems. The structure also saw improvements to common areas and accessibility options.
