Six Local People Among 80 Charged In Massive Child Porn Bust

Suspects from Barrie, Innisfil, Orillia, Collingwood, Newmarket Among Those Charged

A massive online investigation involving police services across the province has resulted in hundreds of Child porn-related charges laid against 80 people, and six of those are from our region. Two men from Barrie, one each from Innisfil, Orillia, Collingwood, and Newmarket, ages ranging from 28-74, among those facing charges including Possessing, Accessing, Distributing, or Making Child Pornography, and Sexual Assault. A total of 174 search warrants resulted in 274 charges laid. At a media conference in Toronto this morning, OPP Chief Superintendent Don Bell said the investigation was able to identify 20 victims, and make sure they were taken care of. In addition to the OPP, the investigation also involved local law enforcement including the Barrie Police Service, South Simcoe Police, and York Regional Police.
