A lot of people were shocked and saddened to hear the news of David Bowie’s passing.  Most people didn’t know he was sick.  In fact, it was just days ago on his 69th birthday (January 8th), people were happy to hear he had just released a new album entitled Blackstar and were curious as to what the new material sounded like.  It is now his 25th and final album and is destined to be a top seller in the coming weeks.

David Robert Jones (David Bowie) was one of the most influential artists of his generation, and while “glam rock” wasn’t as big here in North America as it was in Europe, David Bowie made his mark in the industry through various personas and established himself as one of the best singer/songwriter musicians and showmen in the world.

He was also an actor, a painter, producer, arranger, and was known as an innovator through his more than 4 decades of working the industry.  It’s estimated he sold more than 140 million records during his lifetime and also influenced and helped coutless others with their career’s.

Diagnosed with cancer 18 months ago, news reports say he passed peacefully surrounded by friends and family.  He was 69.
