Relief From High Electricity Rates Expected In Speech From Throne

Wynne Government 'Resetting' After Setbacks

The Wynne Government revisits its agenda with a new Speech From The Throne today. The premier prorogued the legislature Friday, midway through its term, fuelled by a recent byelection loss in Toronto and criticism over the high cost of living in Ontario – especially where electricity rates are concerned. Finance Minister Charles Sousa says the speech will, among other things, outline how the Liberals plan to offer relief from skyrocketing hydro bills, insisting the government recognizes that it “needs to mitigate the cost for everyday Ontarians.”
