Postal Disruption Remains Likely Early Monday Morning
Two sides cannot agree to terms of 'truce'
The ray of hope in the postal dispute Friday morning was snuffed out by last night. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers had asked for a 30-day truce to keep talks going and keep the mail moving. Canada Post said sure – so long as both sides agree to binding arbitration if they can’t get a deal done in that time. The union would not agree to that. A lockout remains likely as of 12:01 Monday morning, bringing mail service across the country to a halt.
