Police Watchdog Investigating Claims Collingwood Police Killed Family Pet

OIPRD Contacted Following Public Outcry Over Online Video

An incident involving a pet dog in Collingwood is being investigated by the province’s police watchdog. The Office of the Independent Police Review Director has been called in to investigated claims a Collingwood OPP officer killed a pet dog. A video was posted online showing someone running down an animal, initially believed to be a coyote, before shooting it. The OIPRD says they received 86 complaints from the public and will handle the investigation, saying it takes about 120 days to complete.
