After 16 days of athletes from the various Pan American Countries competing and giving their athletic best for their respective nation’s, the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games have come to a close.

Going into the games, there was a lot of speculation of massive traffic tie-ups, a non-interest in the games themselves, that there would be poor attendance, many predicted the Toronto games would be a flop on the international stage.

Instead, after what appeared to be a slow start for tickets sales, the general public seemed to take note when the Opening Ceremonies were a sell-out and very well produced, and then Canada started to win medals early on in the opening days of competition. In the end, organizers say over 1,000,000 tickets were sold to the various events, the traffic tie-ups weren’t nearly as nasty as some had predicted, and in the end, the Pan Am 9Toronto Pan Am Games have been declared a big success, and Canada’s athlete’s enjoyed their best Pan Am Games in history surpassing their expectations and bringing home 217 medals overall, 78 of those Gold, 69 Silver, and 70 bronze.

Now the stage has been set for the possibility of an Olympic bid for the 2024 games if all levels of Government can jump the hurdles and all agree to come together to be a part of the bid.

If you are going through competition withdrawal, the Parapan Am Games start in just 11 days on August 7th.
