Pan Am Games Went Over Budget

Auditor General Report Finds Games Went $304-million Over Budget

A report out today sheds light on the true cost of the Pan Am games. Ontario’s Auditor-General, Bonnie Lysyk, says the government had to shell out $304 million more than budgeted for, to cover the cost of the Pan Am Games last year. The Pan Am and Parapan Am Games held in Toronto this summer came with a budget of $2.4-billion. Back in November, officials announced the games stayed within that budget, meaning for lucrative performance bonuses for organizers.
