Laws. RIDE programs. Ignition interlocks. Mass media and educational campaigns. Nickelback. Can an Alberta rock band be the most effective deterrent against drunk driving?
A Prince Edward Island police department is giving it a shot.
Kensington Police Service shared a message via Facebook last weekend, threatening the use of an unopened Nickelback cassette as punitive measure for people “dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive.”
The message is clear…”if you are foolish enough to get behind the wheel after drinking then a little Chad Kroeger and the boys is the perfect gift for you.”
Quite a dig at the often-maligned Canadian rockers. For what it’s worth, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger was convicted of drunk driving in 2008.
Play it safe this holiday season, Islanders.
