Oro Medonte Bridge Dedicated To Fallen Officer

OPP Officer Killed In The Line Of Duty 18 Years Ago

A bridge over the 400 was today officially dedicated to a fallen police officer. OPP Constable Thomas Coffin was killed on May 31st, 1997, when he was shot by a man he’d arrested for impaired driving a year earlier. The bridge is at the Highway 93 exit over the 400 in Oro Medonte. Constable Coffin got his start in law enforcement in 1983, joining the Alliston Police Force, moving to Penetanguishene five years later. That’s where he would stay until his death.  This is one of sixty-two provincial highway structures dedicated to a fallen police officer.
