OPP Investigating After Dog Killed By Officer in Collingwood

Initial Reports Suggested Animal Was a Rabid Coyote

What was originally thought to be a rabid coyote euthanized by police in Collingwood, was actually a neighbourhood dog. Police were called out to the area of Seventh and Oak Streets around 9:30 Monday night with reports of an aggressive wild animal, and an officer killed the animal with the interest of public safety in mind. Collingwood OPP acknowledge a video later surfaced reportedly showing someone running down an animal several times before shooting it, and are investigating.  The OPP say the owner of the animal has been contacted.
