OMB Won’t Rule On Burl’s Creek Until The Fall

The dispute over land use at Burl’s Creek isn’t over just yet, and likely won’t be until the fall. The Ontario Municipal Board was called upon to settle a dispute between the Township of Oro Medonte and local groups West Oro Ratepayers Association and Save Oro, but announced they won’t render a decision for a few months. The emailed statement from Burl’s Creek Events Grounds head Ryan Howes reads as follows:

“Burl’s Creek Event Grounds has been hosting concerts and major events since 1984 and the original footprint which is used as the main entertainment spaces for Boots and Hearts and WayHome is all zoned accordingly. Burl’s Creek continues to work with all of the appropriate local, regional, provincial and federal agencies to ensure appropriate planning and processes are followed as we prepare for these events. The matter before the OMB pertains to additional parcels of land for camping and parking at these events, as well as recreational soccer fields for 700 children and their families. As this matter continues to be before the OMB we do not feel that it is appropriate to be commenting any further.”
