Officer Hurt In Sunglasses Theft

Police Officer OK, Teen Facing Charges

The apprehension of a suspect related to the theft of a pair of sunglasses went in another direction entirely yesterday afternoon and a police officer ended up in hospital.
Barrie Police were called to Bayfield Convenience where they found the accused still in the store and still wearing the glasses. The 15 year old was arrested and charged with theft under 5-thousand. During the investigation a female stepped in and began interfering. Police say they asked her move away but she refused and became irate, spit on the cruiser windshield and then kicked one of the officers in the knee and spit in his face. The 17 year old female was then charged with assaulting a police officer and mischief. The officer, meanwhile made a visit to RVH to have his knee checked out.
