Newmarket Police Canvasing Area In Sexual Assault Investigation

Composite Sketch Of Suspect Released

York Regional Police will be canvasing Newmarket neighbourhoods this evening, in an effort to learn more about a sexual assault suspect. Investigators will be knocking on doors in the area of Matthew Boyd Cres. and Dawson Manor Blvd. around suppertime, hoping to shed light on five sexual assaults in the area of the Upper Canada Mall since mid August. Police say in four of five incidences, a man ran up to female victims and grabbed their buttocks before running off, with a fifth incident saw a suspect try to forcibly remove a woman’s clothing before being scared off by a passerby. Police this morning released a composite sketch of the suspect and a picture of his car. Contact York Regional Police if either looks familiar.
