Newmarket Mother Charged With Leaving Child Home Alone, Drunk Driving

Tuesday Afternoon Crash Lead To Charges

A Newmarket mother is up on a few charges after a crash in town. Around 5:30 Tuesday afternoon, York Regional Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Yonge St. and Kingston Rd., claiming they noticed signs one of the drivers was impaired by alcohol. The 28-year-old woman was arrested on the spot, while police later learned her 7-year-old daughter was home alone. Police picked up the young girl around 9:30 that night, and got her safely into her father’s hands. The Children’s Aid Society was also notified.
