New Boston Police Vehicle Loaded With Ice Cream

To help boost community relations

Police in Boston, looking to improve community relations, have added a new vehicle to their fleet – an ice cream truck. It was introduced Monday at police headquarters in the city’s Roxbury neighbourhood to be used as part of “Operation Hoodsie Cup,” a community policing initiative that has distributed 120,000 free ice cream cups since 2010. Crazy? Maybe, but the commissioner expects the goodwill it generates will be undeniable.
