Men Today Weaker Than Those 30 Years Ago

Linked to variety of health problems

Men are weaker than they were 30 years ago. Research in the Journal of Hand Therapy finds men aged 20 to 34 have lower grip strength than the same aged guys three decades ago (the average grip strength for men ages 25 to 29 is nearly 26 pounds lower today than it was before). Lower grip strength has been linked to a variety of serious health problems including arthritis, heart disease, stroke, and neurological conditions. Less manual labour appears to be a factor. Men are less likely to be employed in manual labor jobs, such as in the manufacturing and agricultural fields, than they used to be. Click here for more.
